Art Lessons
Chris Abigt has been teaching children for over 25 years. She loves every minute of it
and especially enjoys seeing the delight in their eyes when they realize that they are
true young artists themselves.
Chris teaches at O'Town Book's Mind's Eye Studio in Ottumwa where she holds four different sessions a year.
Summer Art Lessons
Summer Art Lessons will be starting soon at the O’Town Studio and I am looking forward to seeing you! Remember that the book store and studio have moved to the first floor of the same building. The summer session is 6 weeks long and it begins the last week of June and goes through the first week of August. Because of the varying cost of art supplies, the cost for each class is listed along with the class and that price includes supplies. Look over the following class schedule and e-mail me or call me to register for the classes you’d like to take.
Tuesdays June 29th – August 3rd
Famous Artists – This is the best class for younger kids and those who have taken only a few classes. I will be teaching about a different artist every week and we will be using a wide variety of mediums to draw and paint as if we are the artist of the day.
Class times are 10:00-11:00 / 11:15-12:15 and the cost is
$50.00
Tuesdays June 29th – August 3rd
Mural Painting – This is for those who have taken at least one previous class and who will be going into 4th grade and up. The class will be designing their own 4 foot by 8 foot Mural and will be learning the process of taking a design, working as a team and painting it on a large scale. Class time is 1:00-2:00 and the cost is $60.00
Wednesdays June 30th – August 4th
Workshop - This class is for those who have taken lessons previously. The kids choose their mediums and subject matter (personal photos, magazines or whatever they can come up with) – It’s great if they come to the first class full of ideas!
Class times are 2:00-3:00/ 3:20-4:20 / 4:30-5:30 and the cost is $50.00
Thursdays July 1st – August 5th
Portraits – This class is for those who have taken at least 2 previous sessions. We will be covering all of the elements of drawing and painting people.

Pottery – This class is for anyone who likes to get their hands dirty. We will be using earthen clay with three different techniques: Slab, Coil and Pinch pots…all of which we will paint. Class times are 1:00-2:00 / 2:15-3:15 and the cost is
$60.00
